Self Care Sunday

Let’s face it - the Sunday Scaries are real, and if you let them get to you, it can really start your week off on the wrong foot.

So, in the future, we are challenging you to flip the script! Instead of worrying about the inevitable Monday-Eve dread, treat Sundays as an opportunity for some much-needed R&R. If you are able to take some time for yourself, you can set yourself up for a rejuvenating week full of successes and motivation.

Sundays are a perfect day for self-care and relaxation, so create a plan to center yourself and prepare for the days ahead.

Why is self-care important?

You’ve probably heard the saying, “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” Just like a car can’t run without gas, your mind and body can’t function if you feel depleted from the inside.

Self-care is a great way to help us better cope with stress and boost our emotional and physical health. The goal is to nurture and replenish yourself in a positive and enriching way, a way that allows you to turn up with the best version of yourself each day.

6 Self-Care Sunday ideas

Whether you only have 20 minutes to yourself or the whole day to dedicate to a self-care routine, here are some of our favorite way to celebrate a little Self Care Sunday and create a day filled with self-love and revitalization.

Declutter and reorganize

Taking the time to clean and organize your space can help foster feelings of creativity and productivity. Messiness and cluttered areas not only make it difficult to find what you’re looking for in your day-to-day, but it also causes distress.

Finding a few hours out of your day to reorganize and declutter can improve your mood and remove unnecessary distractions from your home! To avoid feeling overwhelmed, don’t try to tackle the entire house in one go - instead, start with a designated area, such as an office space, bathroom, or pantry

Move your body

Take a break from your daily routine and make time for some movement. Whether it’s dancing in the kitchen, going for a hike, riding your bike, or doing some yoga, do what will bring you the most joy. You may be surprised to see how great your body and mind feel!

Relax with a face mask

Use your Self Care Sunday routine as an opportunity to give your skin a little bit of extra TLC. After cleansing, apply a natural face mask (like our Honey, Turmeric & Beetroot Face Mask) and spread it all over your face, neck, and decolletage area. Spend the next few minutes relaxing in a warm bath or listening to your favorite playlist as the mask works to draw out impurities, refine pores, and heal problem areas.

Call a loved one

Picking up the phone and calling a family member or friend to say hi can really brighten up the day. Maintaining connections with others is an essential part of our mental health and overall wellbeing, and even a quick check-in can make a difference. It’s easy to keep up with others through texting and social media, but setting some time aside to make a personal phone call can be a special way to show how much you care about someone.

Do some gardening

Gardening can be such a therapeutic and rewarding part of your Self Care Sunday routine. Nurturing plants and watching them grow and bloom into a beautiful space you created is a satisfying thing! It’s also a great way to get the whole family involved. Have the children help with the weeding, watering, or spreading of seeds.

Take a technology break

Most of us spend our days staring at a computer or smartphone screen, which can really take a toll on us! Dedicate some time this Sunday to take a break. Swap out your social media feed for your favorite book, a lengthy text conversation for a casual nature walk with a friend, and push your non-urgent emails aside for a mind-stimulating word puzzle.

You may also find that a weekly technology break can help enhance connections with those around you, improve sleep, jumpstart productivity, and even help with eye strain and headaches.
