Eco-Friendly Holiday Gift Guide

The holidays are just around the corner which means it's time to begin the stressful, joyous, and exciting task of gift shopping! As someone who is passionate about leading an eco-friendly lifestyle and educating others about the importance of making sustainable choices, I try my best to carry these principles into my holiday shopping. The good news is that green gift-giving is much easier than you may think! To give you some inspiration for the upcoming shopping season, we’ve created this eco-friendly holiday gift guide that will have something for everyone on your list. These gifts are sure to leave a smile on the receiver's face, and you can feel extra proud knowing that they are also great for the environment.

For the fitness-lover: Reusable water bottle Every year, millions of tons of plastic end up in oceans and filling up our landfills. One practical and easy way you can reduce your carbon footprint is to switch to a reusable water bottle. Gifting someone a reusable water bottle is a great way to encourage them to ditch single-use water bottles and stay hydrated throughout the day! There are several options out there for eco-friendly materials such as stainless steel, glass, and even sugarcane.

For the skincare guru: Sustainably created skincare products. As more consumers are becoming aware of the impact of single-use plastics and non-sustainable ingredients on our environment, brands are starting to ditch plastic for low-waste packaging.

At Keepers Collective, we take it a step further than zero-waste packaging. All of our all-natural skincare products are formulated with sustainable ingredients, many coming right from our own hive!

For the meal prepper: Reusable storage bags Say goodbye to traditional one-time-use ziplock bags! Silicone food-grade reusable storage bags (such as Stasher) are self-seeling and are perfect for storing leftovers, steaming veggies, and packing up on-the-go snacks. They’re freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe - making them both versatile and convenient for whatever it is you’re using them for. A starter kit that includes a few different sizes would be a great gift for someone who is always storing leftovers or prepping meals for the week.

For the friend on the go: Tote bag Tote bags can be both a fashion statement and a simple way to reduce the impact of plastic on the environment. There are many brands such as Parks Project, that use upcycled and recycled materials to create their bags - so, it’s a double win!

For the gardener: Compost bin Composting is a great way to reduce waste, decrease greenhouse emissions, and promote a healthy garden! Food scraps contain important vitamins and minerals that when composted get recycled back into the soil and taken up by the next round of crops. Compost bins like Joseph Joseph Intelligent Waste Compost Bin offer a sleek design and have additional features like an odor filter and ventilation that make the process even more enjoyable.

For the coffee lover: Fair trade coffee Treat the coffee fanatic in your life with the gift of a sustainable and eco-friendly pick-me-up. Choosing sustainable coffee supports safe working conditions and fair trade for farmers and ensures that the beans are grown and harvested in ways that are healthy for the environment as well. Some favorites include Larry’s Coffee, Driftaway Coffee, and Cafe Mam.
