6 ways to treat yourself to an at-home spa day while stuck inside
While we all continue to be stuck indoors this winter, dealing with old and new stressors it’s important to remember self-care. An easy way to do this is to take an afternoon for a spa day. This might sound like a trip out of the house, or like it could be expensive. But with this list of at-home spa ideas, a relaxing time at home should be easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Since it can be difficult to go out and find supplies, these options include ingredients many of us already have in the kitchen. So grab your fluffy slippers, bathrobe, and some pantry items for a special spa day at home.
1. Tea or Spa Water
Spa water is often served in spa facilities and is a staple to pampering. Not only does it taste good but it is used for detoxification purposes. The usual ingredients in spa water are cucumbers and mint, infused into distilled spring water. Sometimes there are lemon, strawberry, or watermelon slices. Even blueberries. To replicate this at home, take any fruit that is on hand and slice it thinly for easy infusion. Add herbs such as mint or rosemary for an added fancy kick. Just tap water will do, or any clean water available. Put the cut fruit and chosen herbs into the water for an hour or so before spa time so that the water has time to infuse. For some healthy sweetness add a bit of raw honey.
2. Raw Honey and Fresh Lemon Bath
A bath is one of the best parts of a spa day. It allows for full-body relaxation after a long week. A bath will set up the rest of the spa day. Put the following in your tub as the water fills up, grab the pre-made spa water, and enjoy a long replenishing soak.
● ½ cup raw honey
● Two lemons or ½ cup lemon juice
● 2 tablespoons coconut oil
● ⅓ cup baking soda
Check out our Whipped Body Polish, made with raw honey and essential oils, while in the bath for a refreshing and relaxing exfoliation.
3. All-Natural Face Wash
During a nice hot bath the pores in our skin open up, this is a perfect time to cleanse. Using a natural facewash will bring out the dirt and grime built up from your day and will pull toxins from pores. Raw honey and coconut oil have antibacterial properties, while the oatmeal, pumpkin, and baking soda are natural exfoliants and anti-inflammatories. This facewash will emphasize the natural glow of healthy skin with various vitamins, minerals, and oils. Blend the following ingredients together for a facewash that will last for a few spa sessions. Just pop it in the fridge to keep it fresh in-between uses.
● 1 cup blenderized oatmeal
● 1 cup raw honey
● ¾ cup coconut oil
● 1 can pumpkin
● ½ cup baking soda

4. Nourishing Face Mask
After soaking and exfoliating your body and face, your skin will need to be replenished. A simple yet nourishing recipe made with raw honey for an at-home mask is:
● 1 teaspoon raw honey
● 1 teaspoon coconut oil
● ¼ avocado
● Two drops of essential oil such as lavender
Leave this mix on the skin for at least ten minutes to allow full absorption of oils, vitamins, and other helpful components. After this, the skin should be soft and silky smooth with reduced wrinkles and blemishes. If you're looking for a product packed full of skin loving nutrients to help lock in all the goodness from your face mask, Keepers Secret Salve, is an all-natural salve made with honey bee products straight from the hive that boasts a long list of uses and benefits that go way beyond a single spa day. Another fun and natural way to get glowing skin is by using a banana peel! After eating the banana for the benefits of its potassium and simple deliciousness of the fruit, take the peel and rub the inner side mostly on the nose, the chin, and the forehead. Do this until the peel turns brown. Allow the banana peel residue to dry on the skin. It can even be left overnight. As it dries, the skin absorbs all the vitamins and nutrients from the peel. Banana peel contains polysaccharides and salicylic acid as well as other anti-inflammatory properties, which makes banana peels wonderful face masks.
5. Healing Mani-Pedi
The next spa essential is a mani-pedi. A good pampering of our hands and feet doesn't always require painting our nails. Instead, you guessed it, exfoliation and moisturization are the keys! Whether this is combined with the spa bath or is a separate activity, a good foot and hand soak with a sugar scrub will leave your extremities feeling great.
Warm water with a bit of raw honey, coconut oil, and essential oils makes a wonderful soak for both the feet and hands. Leave them in the warm nourishing water for about ten minutes or until the water cools off. This will leave softened skin for easy exfoliation.
Next use the same scrubs from you bath (Whipped Body Polish) to exfoliate hands and feet. Focus on any problem areas such as your heels for a little extra TLC in countering dry and cracked skin.
